Abstract

The article analyzes the implementation of patient rights and access to contraceptive methods for minors between the ages of fifteen and eighteen. Proper care in the field of sexual health is particularly important in the context of the legal possibility of sexual intercourse for teenagers who have reached the age of fifteen. Raising social awareness and disseminating specialized medical knowledge contribute to ensuring safety and preventing crimes against sexual freedom, with minors as victims. It is necessary to differentiate the scope of a minor›s self-determination regarding: visiting a specialist doctor, undergoing an examination, and being prescribed contraceptive methods, depending on their age. The publication also presents a comparative analysis of Poland and other European and non-European countries regarding minors› access to healthcare and contraception. Finally, the authors present legal solutions available in other countries that could serve as inspiration for Polish legislation.
